Yellow pea patties

My sister in law asked me for some tips what to do with dried yellow peas. I gave her bunch of ideas and while thinking of that I got that feeling it's time even for me to make some yellow pea dish again. So here you are. It was very filling, so I only could do 2 pieces. 😀

Ingredients for 10 patties:

  • 1/2 cup flax seeds ground
  • 2 cups soaked yellow peas
  • 1Tbsp tahini
  • 2Tbsp olive oil
  • 1tsp salt
  • 2Tbsp nutritional yeast
  • 1tsp black pepper
  • 1Tbsp turmeric
  • 2 handfuls parsley leaves chopped
  • 1/2 cup sundried tomatoes soaked in oil

Mix the flax seeds with just enough water to make them create loose jelly paste. Add little bit of water a time.

Put the peas in a food processor and pulse them to break down just a little

Stir all ingredients together in a bowl

Form small patties. If you need, add little water to make them stick together

Place the patties in a dehydrator and dehydrate for 4 hours

Here I served with my own wild garlic pesto (wild garlic leaves, sunflower seeds, olive oil, salt)

More tips for what to do with yellow peas:

Soak up yellow peas and then have them  for example in salad, or soup or as an accompaniment instead of  pasta, potatoes, etc. You can also mix them with spices and make balls that you, for example, dry a little to warm them up. You can also marinate mushrooms with soy sauce, maple syrup and teryiaki sauce and then fill with spicy pea puree. You can also serve the pea balls with warm tomato sauce - crush tomatoes and season them with oregano, salt, garlic, nutmeg, etc. and heat up to 45 degrees. You can also make patties of them with chopped onions, mushrooms and soy sauce and serve with vegetables. Or you can make a cream soup with lots of herbs. Enjoy
