Kale is one of my favourite veggies and since I don't like to eat the stems, I always just rip the leafy part of. Usually my dogs get the stems in their food, or I mix them in a smoothie. But today I didn't have any fresh green herbs so (inspired by Cara Brotman's recipe) I thought that I might just take some kale stems with some leafy parts still on and make a creamy green sauce to our Wild rice bowl.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup cashews
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • dried or fresh basil, thyme
  • 1Tbsp tamari
  • 1 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 cup water
  • salt, pepper
  • bunch of kale stems with some leaf parts on

Blend all the ingredients together in a high speed blender

Add more water if you need

I tried to add the lemon juice and tamari after the other ingredients got blended, just as Cara recommends.

The sauce should be good for several days in the fridge
